Selected Field Studies

Overthrust Belt, Wyoming
Participated as the geological/geophysical member of a client-based multidisciplinary team charged with evaluating all of the company’s assets in the Wyoming Overthrust belt area.  The results of this integrated study were utilized to analyze various strategic options to maximize the value of the assets.  Presented results of the evaluation to senior management resulting in a renewed focus for additional exploitation opportunities for the assets.

Angola, Gabon-Offshore West Africa
Conducted an integrated geological and geophysical evaluation of fifteen prospects.  Developed probabilistic evaluation of undiscovered potential resources through identification of the expected reservoir parameters, establishing ranges of reserve potential and assessing risk attributable to each prospect.  These results were incorporated into a decision tree based economics model for Western Africa.  The economic analysis of this area study were combined with similar analysis of the other assets of the company into a corporate economics model utilized by international investment banks to ascertain the net asset value of the company.

Huntington Beach, Ventura Fields, California
Participated as the geological/geophysical member of a multidisciplinary audit team.  Provided independent third party review of work performed by operator to determine proved and unproven reserve volumes.  Supplied original work and analysis which identified additional drilling, secondary and tertiary recovery opportunities.  Majority of work was performed onsite in client’s office in California which facilitated interaction with operator’s staff and improved data accessibility.

North Sea – UK Sector
Conducted an integrated geological and geophysical evaluation of five properties in the U.K. sector of the North Sea.  Developed probabilistic evaluation of reserves and undiscovered potential resources through identification of expected reserve parameters, establishing ranges of reserve potential and assessing risk associated with the development of each property.  These results were incorporated into an economic and risk model developed to determine total risk associated with financing the development of these properties for an international investment bank.

Twenty-five years of experience in prospect generation and analysis including evaluation of potential recoverable hydrocarbons and performing risk and economic analyses.  Studies include:

Gulf of Mexico-State and Federal Offshore Areas
Generated prospects and analyzed the exploratory potential for numerous Federal Offshore blocks and state tracts in the shelf and slope environments of the Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama Offshore areas.  Recommended acreages for leasing and graded prospects in inventory, making recommendations regarding participation. Integrated new well data into prior structural and stratigraphic interpretations resulting in recommendations for new exploratory drilling locations.

Offshore California-State and Federal Areas
Generated prospects in the Santa Barbara Channel and Santa Maria Basins which were the result of an integrated geological and geophysical effort.  Due to this work, acreage was acquired with one successful well being drilled in the Monterey Formation.  Responsible for the geological evaluation of proposed locations and newly drilled wells including the initial exploratory wells at Point Arguello field.

Central and South Texas Gulf Coast
Evaluated potential drilling opportunities and prospects in the Frio, Vicksburg, Wilcox, and Edwards trends.  Made recommendations for participation resulting in successful wells being drilled on several prospects.

Offshore Venezuela
In 2003 conducted geological and geophysical review of fourteen exploratory prospects in the Platforma Deltana area offshore Venezuela.  This evaluation incorporated well and seismic data to determine a range of prospect parameters which, along with prospect risk, was used to calculate unrisked and risked resource volumes for each prospect.

Exploitation-Development Drilling Review/Analysis
Over twenty-two years of experience in evaluating and proposing wells for field development, extension, delineation and acceleration to achieve maximum reserve recovery and economic return.  Selected studies include:

Gulf of Mexico-State and Federal Offshore Areas
Manager responsible for directing evaluations and initiating studies resulting in the identification of additional drilling potential in fields located in the Plio-Pleistocene, Miocene, and Jurassic trends in the state and federal waters offshore Texas, Louisiana and Alabama.  As a result of these studies, new locations were identified and successfully drilled at Eugene Island 312/333, South Marsh Island 128, High Island A-586/587, and Mobile 861/862.

Uinta Basin, Utah
Directed significant portion of a major infill drilling program in the large Bluebell/Altamont field. (30 wells, $50MM).  This drilling program, while intended to further develop oil production from the Wasatch formation, resulted in establishing new potential gas production in the Green River Formation.

South Louisiana
Additional drilling potential was identified as a result of a detailed reservoir mapping project in the Judge Digby field.  Several successful high rate gas wells were drilled to the Tuscaloosa Formation.

Exploration Portfolio Evaluation
Conducted integrated geological and geophysical review and evaluation of prospect portfolios for the purpose of defining resource magnitude and associated risk.  Developed probabilistic evaluation of undiscovered potential resources through identification of the expected reservoir parameters, establishing ranges of reserve potential and assessing risk attributable to each prospect.  These efforts were incorporated into studies to value acquisition targets and develop economic models for potential drilling opportunities.  International studies performed in offshore West Africa, Congo, Colombia, Ecuador, Trinidad & Tobago, North Sea, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan.

EXPERT WITNESS EXPERIENCE

Have performed in the role of “Expert Witness” for small Independent oil & gas companies, as well as, for fully-integrated multi-national Majors.  Experience includes representing a major oil company in its dispute over the value and disposition of leases in the Eastern Gulf of Mexico, and a small domestic independent in a dispute with a lease holder.  Additional experience includes performing the role of “Expert” on behalf of a major international company in its negotiatons with representatives of a country belonging to the former Soviet Union.

INTEGRATED FIELD STUDIES

Eastern U.S.
